  1. Hi,
Thank you so much for posting the English user manual and recipes! Is this the model CRP-M1059F? I am also considering this model. Can you tell me your experience with this model, is it good ?

    Thanks. :)

    Regards,
    Miss B

  2. Hi there! Yup, I have the CRP-M1059F model. I would say overall I'm happy with the Cuckoo rice cooker. The built quality seems pretty good. Well, it should be as it's not cheap. So far, I've used it to cook white rice, brown rice and porridge with good results. The non-stick pot works well making it easy to clean. One thing I noticed is that cooking rice/porridge with the rice cooker is that the rice cooker remains pretty clean. There's hardly any residue. The water collected in the dew container is surprisingly clear. Lastly, although the buttons are in English, the Cuckoo rice cooker speaks in Korean. It's a very talkative rice cooker. When the rice cooker turns on, it says something in Korean. Same goes with every button press. And when the rice is ready, there's even a cuckoo bird sound as a notification.

    1. Hi Jeremy,
      Thanks for your prompt reply!

I am hoping to get this next week. I am currently using a 5-year old Toshiba fuzzy logic cooker and the inside of the pot is wearing out. I used it primarily to cook white rice, porridge and sometimes make cakes.

From the online manual, it seems pretty confusing to me what the glutinous rice function means. Does it mean white rice? We eat Thai jasmine rice all the time, not the Korean/Jap type of rice. It seems to me that the "Glutinous Rice" function just means "Cook", whereas the "Turbo-Glutinous Rice" means "Quick Cook".

How do you find the porridge function? I read that it takes pretty long, about 90 min? I was able to cook porridge within 1 hr 15 min using Toshiba and I expect it to be faster using Cuckoo. And does it allow you to cook rice or porridge in small quantities such as 1 cup? This is a 10-cup family-size cooker, but sometimes I just need to cook for myself.

I am also a little bit doubtful about whether it can make cakes. I am a hobby baker who loves making cakes in rice cooker and I have a few rice cooker cake recipes in my blog. I have succeeded in making cakes in my Toshiba which is without baking function, just using the Cook function.

Thanks once again for answering my queries! :-)

  3. I think glutinous rice means white rice. It's certainly misleading as glutinous rice means a kind of sticky rice.

Anyway, I've cooked various kinds of rice like long gain Thai Jasmine rice and medium grain rice using the Glutinous rice function. Yup, the manual does say Turbo-Glutinous Rice means quick cook. That's something I haven't tried.

I've used the porridge function and am pretty happy with the results. However, it does take quite long. 2 cups of rice for porridge takes about 90 minutes. Frankly, I expected cooking with a pressure rice cooker to be faster. Maybe the quicker cooking time only happens with the Cuckoo induction models.

From the markings on the pot, the minimum amount for cooking rice is 2 cups. Thus, that's the least I've tried for rice. You can cook 1 cup of rice for porridge though.

I haven't tried baking cakes either. However, page 70 of the manual mentions about butter chocolate cake and page 71 has the recipe for fresh cream cake.

Happy to answer any questions you might have. :-)
