Can you give some tips on how to cook long grain white rice in a Cuckoo? I'm having trouble getting some that isn't too sticky gummy. Is the 'glutinous' rice setting the right one for long grain white? Thanks!
Hi Kathy, We have a Cuckoo and my Thai wife of 42 years cooks long grain Thai jasmine rice every day. We use setting 1(soak wetting) and setting 2 (Sweet), heat is 0 (in the middle). Measure the rice and water carefully. If cooking 2 cups then measure 2 cups (supplied cup) and add water to the 2 cups level. If your rice comes out wet then lower the level of water by 2 lines width. Try again. If wet again lower by 2 lines width again. The amount of water needed can vary depending on the water content of the rice used. As it dries out bump up a bit on the water. Hope this helps.
Forgot to mention, we have a HZ0683F. We have had many automatic rice cookers. This is by far the most expensive and the very best of the best we have had in over 40 years. Cooking Thai sweet (sticky) rice right now.
One more thing. My wife just reminded me that after the cooking is complete use the supplied spoon to flip the rice. You want to basically fluff up the rice by turning it over in about 5 parts then close the lid. Let it sit for about 10 to 15 mins. This will help the rice to be a even consistency.
Most of the time I don’t make comments on websites, but I'd like to say that this article really forced me to do so. Really nice post! Cuckoo Rice Cooker Not Working
